Cranborne Audio Introduces Brick Lane MC4 Four-Channel PWM Dynamics Processor

By Richard Alan Salz ·

Cranborne Audio introduced the Brick Lane MC4 on January 21, 2026, expanding its Modal PWM compressor concept into a four-channel, 2U rackmount dynamics processor.

The MC4 keeps the signal path fully analog while using digital control for recall, front-panel operation and remote control from a DAW over USB or Ethernet. Its four channels can operate independently or in stereo, Mid/Side, series, dual-band and de-esser configurations.

Each channel combines Cranborne’s Modal PWM compression architecture with a noise gate and the company’s analog lookahead system. Six compression modes — Velvet, Float, Smash, Tame, Glue and Polish — alter envelope behavior and harmonic character, while the Stress control adds variable harmonic saturation. An ENIGMA section provides deeper adjustment of knee, attack/release weighting, detector behavior and high-frequency emphasis.

Contemporaneous launch information listed the Brick Lane MC4 at US$2,799 US street price, £2,699 UK RRP including VAT and €3,099 RRP including local tax, with availability targeted for the end of Q1 2026.
