Polyend Drums Combines Analog Voices, Digital Instruments and Eight-Track Sequencing

By Richard Alan Salz ·

Polyend announced Drums on May 7, 2026, a hybrid drum machine that combines four analog voices with digital instruments, sampling, sequencing and onboard processing.

Each analog voice uses two SSI2130 oscillators, an SSI2140 multimode filter and SSI2164 VCA, with a digital oscillator available for hybrid layering or FM. The instrument also includes sample-based and digital synthesis options, with 50 instruments that can be assigned across eight tracks.

The sequencer provides eight tracks of up to 64 steps each, parameter locks, micro-timing, probability, independent track lengths and speeds, Euclidean and generative tools, real-time recording and song arrangement. Internal processing is 32-bit floating point at 96 kHz, with 24-bit/96 kHz A/D and D/A conversion.

Connectivity includes stereo main outputs, eight individual quarter-inch track outputs, stereo headphones, stereo audio input, MIDI in/out/thru and USB-C. Polyend says the first production batch sold out and is taking reservations for a later batch scheduled for November 2026.
