PSI Audio AVAA C225 Extends Active Bass Trapping to Higher-SPL Rooms

By TAM Staff ·

PSI Audio announced the AVAA C225 on September 8, 2026, adding a higher-capacity model to its active bass-trap range. Intended applications include home cinemas, small clubs and studios with substantial low-frequency energy.

The C225 uses two 10-inch drivers. PSI specifies operation from 12 to 130 Hz and says the unit can absorb sound pressure levels up to 135 dB. Those are manufacturer specifications, not TAM measurements.

Unlike an equalizer inserted into the playback chain, an AVAA unit acts on acoustic energy in the room. The aim is to shorten the lingering decay associated with low-frequency room modes. PSI says the C225 does not require frequency tuning and offers app control.

The relevant distinction for installers is capacity: the new model is intended to handle higher levels than smaller AVAA units. Its practical effect will still depend on the room and placement. PSI’s release does not provide an MSRP.
