Pro Tools 2026.11 Adds Local Stem Separation, Extensions and MPE
Avid released Pro Tools 2026.11 on November 3, 2026, adding a new Extensions framework, local stem separation and MIDI Polyphonic Expression support. A separate corporate announcement followed on November 5.
Extensions provide integrated tools that can work across a session rather than occupying a conventional track-insert slot. Initial partners include Pro Sound Effects, Soundly, Forte and Pibox. The featured screenshot shows the Pro Sound Effects browser inside Pro Tools.
Avid’s Stem Separator extracts up to six parts: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keys and other material. Processing runs on the user’s computer without uploading audio. The feature is included across Pro Tools tiers, including free Pro Tools Intro.
MPE support adds recording and editing of per-note expression. Windows users also gain native high-DPI scaling, including adaptation between monitors with different scale settings. Playlist clip coloring helps identify corresponding takes across tracks.
The release is available to subscribers, perpetual-license owners with a current Upgrade Plan, and Intro users. Avid’s announcement gives no separate MSRP for the update.
