Trinnov WaveForming Now Supports Two Front Subwoofers

By Richard Alan Salz ·

Trinnov has expanded WaveForming so that qualifying systems can now use only two front subwoofers, substantially lowering the hardware requirement for its active low-frequency control technology.

WaveForming originally required at least two front and two rear subwoofers. Trinnov says its newer processing allows two correctly positioned front subwoofers to act as both wavefront emitters and active absorbers.

The company claims the configuration can reduce decay time below 100 Hz by as much as 50 percent and smooth modal response for one or two seats or another compact listening area. Larger front-and-rear arrays remain the preferred approach where consistent bass over a wider seating area is required.

The new configuration is available through software updates for Altitude16, Altitude32 and AltitudeCI processors.
