Universal Audio Refreshes Volt with Gen 2 and Volt Max Interfaces

Universal Audio has introduced six second-generation Volt USB audio interfaces, splitting the range between three Volt Gen 2 models and three more heavily equipped Volt Max versions.

The new interfaces move to 32-bit/192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion and add UA’s three-mode Tone Shaping preamps: Warmth, Focus and Shine. All models except the Volt 1 Gen 2 add a color Smart Display plus Auto-Gain and Clip Protection. The Max models also add six real-time dynamics presets derived from UA’s 1176, LA-2A and VCA compressor designs.

Volt 4 Gen 2 and all three Max models include ADAT optical input for eight channels of digital expansion. Depending on model, the range also adds MIDI I/O, talkback and speaker switching. UA bundles LUNA and its UAD Volt Studio Bundle along with third-party software.

US MAP pricing is $149 for Volt 1 Gen 2, $219 for Volt 2 Gen 2, $299 for Volt 4 Gen 2, $299 for Volt 2 Max, $399 for Volt 4 Max and $499 for Volt 4P Max. Universal Audio says the range became available October 1.
