Frontier is a limiter with a character-oriented design for creative signal control. It is useful for adding density to drums, bass or other tracks where limiting can become part of the tone. It should be distinguished from a transparent final-output safeguard. Input drive and release behavior affect the result, so check both transient shape and output level while adjusting it.
Input level is part of the sound of nonlinear processing. Compare with output gain compensated, and listen to both transient detail and quieter passages before committing a strongly colored render.
