FluidSynth

FluidSynth is a software synthesizer for playing SoundFont-based instruments from MIDI. It is useful as a sound engine for notation software, MIDI files and custom music applications. The engine and SoundFont are separate components. Playback quality depends substantially on the chosen bank, and sample licenses should be checked independently from the open-source synthesizer’s license.

The player and its sound content are separate licensing decisions. Keep a note of the library source and save its location with the project so the instrument remains available when reopening a session.
