ZynAddSubFX combines additive, subtractive and pad-oriented synthesis engines in one open-source instrument. It is useful for layered textures, resonant sounds and detailed timbral construction. The free source project should be distinguished from commercial binary offerings and interface packages. Linux distribution packages provide one route to installation, with availability and version depending on the distribution.
For a reusable production setup, save the patch with the session and note any external content it depends on. This makes it easier to reopen the arrangement on another machine.
