Helm
By Matt Tytel
Helm is a polyphonic synthesizer with a visual modulation system, step sequencing and integrated effects. Its single-window approach makes it useful for learning subtractive synthesis and building rhythmic patches. It can be played as an instrument rather than requiring a programming environment, while the modulation controls provide room to move beyond static keyboard sounds.
For a reusable production setup, save the patch with the session and note any external content it depends on. This makes it easier to reopen the arrangement on another machine.
