SysEx Librarian stores and sends MIDI System Exclusive data on macOS. It is useful for backing up compatible synthesizer patches and transferring legitimate device data. Messages are device-specific, so identify the destination carefully before transmission. Keep a separate backup and follow the hardware manufacturer’s instructions, particularly when a transfer changes memory contents or involves operating-system data.
MIDI carries performance instructions rather than recorded sound. Confirm the receiving instrument, channel assignments and note mapping when exchanging a file or moving the setup to another computer.
