Sitala is a streamlined drum sampler for arranging one-shot sounds into a playable kit. It is useful for beat construction when a direct pad-based instrument is preferable to a large sampler. The product’s pricing changed across versions, so only an officially offered permanent free legacy build would qualify here. Do not assume the current commercial version is included.
When replacing another drum instrument, check note mapping and velocity response before judging the arrangement. The same MIDI pattern can produce a different balance when voices and articulations move between notes.
Official legacy version 1 remains free. Sitala 2 is a separate paid product; Linux builds are experimental legacy packages.
