GarageBand brings audio recording, software instruments and loop-based arrangement into one application. Guitarists can sketch parts with modeled amplification, while keyboard players can layer virtual instruments over recorded tracks. The Mac and mobile editions have different interfaces and feature sets, so check the relevant Apple download before planning a session around a particular function.
Before a full session, check audio-device selection, input monitoring and the project sample rate. A short saved project and exported audio file are useful first checks of the complete workflow.
