Noble & Cooley Builds Buffalo Trace 250th Anniversary Snare

By Richard Alan Salz ·

Noble & Cooley has built a limited-edition snare using oak from Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels as part of the distillery’s 250th-anniversary project. The material is more than a decorative veneer: the aged barrel wood is incorporated into the drum’s shell construction, giving the project a legitimate materials-and-instrument-building angle rather than merely a branded finish.

For a company whose history is closely tied to unusual solid-shell and hybrid drum construction, the project fits surprisingly well. Noble & Cooley has not presented it as a conventional mass-production model, so availability and pricing should be confirmed directly with the manufacturer rather than inferred from dealer listings.
