Multiply is a chorus effect that combines multiple delayed voices to create ensemble texture. It is useful for broadening an instrument or adding motion to a sustained part. Its processing is intended to avoid some of the tonal problems of basic chorus designs. Still check the actual result in mono and at an appropriate wet balance within the mix.
A send-and-return setup makes it easy to balance the space independently from the source. Check exposed pauses and dense passages, where the same decay can have very different effects on clarity.
