Akai MPC XL Becomes the New Standalone Flagship

Akai Professional has introduced the MPC XL as the flagship of its standalone production range. The workstation combines a Gen 2 eight-core processor with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

Akai specifies up to 32 plug-in instruments, 16 audio tracks and 256 simultaneous voices. The XL also introduces MPCe pads with three-dimensional sensing and a 10.1-inch multitouch display.

Connectivity is correspondingly extensive, including multiple analog outputs, USB-C audio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 16 channels of CV/Gate output and an internal SATA bay for additional storage. The system runs MPC3 OS and can operate without a computer.
