Akai MPC Key 37 G2 Gets Four Times the Processing Power

By Richard Alan Salz ·

Akai Professional has introduced the MPC Key 37 G2, updating its compact standalone keyboard workstation with the company’s Gen 2 eight-core processor. Akai says the new CPU provides four times the processing power of the original MPC Key 37.

The G2 supports as many as 32 plug-in tracks and 16 stereo audio tracks, compared with eight of each on the first-generation model. Storage increases to 64 GB while RAM doubles to 4 GB.

USB-C connectivity enables sampling from phones, tablets and computers and provides a more direct route for moving productions into a DAW. Akai also includes more than 10 GB of sound content and 24 synth engines, although MPC Stems is sold separately.
