TidalCycles
By TidalCycles Contributors
TidalCycles is a live-coding environment for describing musical patterns as text. Its pattern transformations are useful for algorithmic composition, rhythmic exploration and performance with changing code. A separate sound engine or MIDI destination turns the events into sound. Installation joins several components, so following the official setup guide helps establish working audio and synchronization before developing a complex performance.
Rehearse the complete routing and save a dependable starting configuration. Test controller assignments and recovery from an interrupted audio device before making the software part of a live performance.
Requires a supported code environment and a separate sound engine such as SuperDirt, or a configured MIDI destination.
