SuperCollider
By SuperCollider Community
SuperCollider is a programming environment for audio synthesis and algorithmic composition. A language controls an audio server, allowing sound structures and musical processes to be designed in code. It is useful for experimental instruments, installations and research-oriented composition. This flexibility brings a learning curve: it is a development environment for sound rather than a preset-focused virtual instrument.
For a reusable production setup, save the patch with the session and note any external content it depends on. This makes it easier to reopen the arrangement on another machine.
