Renegate Free is a gate designed to control unwanted low-level material between intended events. It is useful for tightening pauses, reducing bleed or making an effect return more rhythmic. Gate timing needs to follow the source, particularly on decaying notes. The permanently free edition has fewer facilities than the commercial version, so consult the comparison before designing a routing-dependent workflow.
Set timing against the performance and compare at similar output level. Listen to attack, sustain and pauses, since a level-control change can alter the musical phrasing as well as peak readings.
