LoudMax
By Thomas Mundt
LoudMax is a look-ahead loudness-maximizing limiter with a compact control set. It is useful for managing peaks and raising average level on an audition or production chain. A limiter can change transient impact even when its interface is simple. Compare at matched listening level and avoid treating the loudest setting as automatically the most appropriate result for a mix.
Set timing against the performance and compare at similar output level. Listen to attack, sustain and pauses, since a level-control change can alter the musical phrasing as well as peak readings.
