OTT is a multiband upward-and-downward compression effect associated with a pronounced, highly detailed electronic-production sound. It is useful for emphasizing quieter texture and reshaping dynamics, especially when blended conservatively. Strong settings can bring noise and high-frequency detail forward. It is an effect to balance against the source rather than an automatic mastering improvement.
Check sustained notes and rhythmic passages separately. Modulation that adds interest to a held sound can blur articulation elsewhere, so the wet balance should follow the role of the part.
