Ecasound

Ecasound is a command-line audio-processing environment for recording, playback and multitrack signal chains. It is useful for scripted production tasks and repeatable routing where a graphical workstation is unnecessary. Configuration is expressed through commands and chain setups. Confirm the selected audio backend and file formats, and test a short run before applying a scripted process to important material.

Check the selected input, output and monitoring path before beginning important work. A short test file can reveal routing or format problems that are not obvious from a meter alone.
