Carla is a plug-in host with routing and patchbay facilities. It is useful for building a live effects rack, testing instruments and joining processors outside a conventional recording session. Supported plug-in formats and bridges depend on the operating system and build. Treat it as the hosting environment: the instruments and effects loaded into it retain their own licenses and requirements.
Before a full session, check audio-device selection, input monitoring and the project sample rate. A short saved project and exported audio file are useful first checks of the complete workflow.
