Insta-Gate

Insta-Gate is a focused noise gate with one threshold control, aimed particularly at high-gain guitar recordings. It is useful for reducing hiss and hum between phrases and making rhythmic stops cleaner. It cannot remove unwanted sound that overlaps the wanted note in the same way as a more selective restoration process. Set the threshold while playing both forceful and quiet passages so softer notes and natural decays remain audible.

For direct recording, check interface input gain and monitoring latency before evaluating the sound. A pedal or amplifier processor may still need separate cabinet processing, depending on the signal chain.
