NoiseTorch
By NoiseTorch Contributors
NoiseTorch creates a processed microphone path with real-time noise suppression on supported Linux audio systems. It is useful for reducing steady unwanted background sound during voice capture and communication. Suppression can also affect quiet details and musical transients, so it should be auditioned carefully before recording an instrument. A good microphone position and quieter environment remain valuable even when software cleanup is available.
Listen to decays and quiet details after processing, where artifacts are often easiest to notice. A modest reduction that preserves the performance can be more useful than removing every trace of unwanted noise.
Requires a supported Linux sound system. Intended real-time suppression may alter musical detail; preserve an untreated recording when possible.
