FMIT
By FMIT Contributors
FMIT is an instrument-tuning and frequency-inspection application. It is useful for checking sustained tones, exploring tuning behavior and observing a source over time. Its visual analysis supports more detailed investigation than simply naming the nearest note. The input microphone, background sound and stability of the played tone all affect the reading, so measurement conditions should be kept consistent when comparing instruments or settings.
A useful display begins with a clear question and appropriate measurement settings. Confirm important observations through listening or a second check, and document calibration where absolute measurements matter.
