Tube Amp adds tube-inspired saturation to recorded material. It is useful for thickening a track, softening peaks or creating more obvious overdrive as the drive setting increases. It is a coloration processor rather than a complete guitar amplifier-and-cabinet rig. Compare the result with output level compensated, and listen for unwanted high-frequency roughness when using stronger settings.
Input level is part of the sound of nonlinear processing. Compare with output gain compensated, and listen to both transient detail and quieter passages before committing a strongly colored render.
