Fender Launches George Harrison Dark Horse Records Stratocaster in Japan
Fender Musical Corporation Japan has introduced the George Harrison Dark Horse Records Stratocaster as the centerpiece of a Japan-exclusive collaboration celebrating Harrison and the label he founded in 1974.
The instrument uses an alder body, maple Modern “C” neck and 9.5-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets. Electronics are conventional Stratocaster rather than a bespoke signature circuit: three Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil pickups with five-way switching. Hardware includes a two-point synchronized tremolo with bent-steel saddles, ClassicGear tuners, gold hardware and an engraved neck plate.
What distinguishes the model is primarily its visual treatment. Olympic White, Black and Orange versions carry custom Dark Horse graphics derived from the label’s artwork. The Black version is exclusive to Fender Flagship Tokyo; Olympic White and Orange versions are available through selected Japanese channels, with some deliveries expected in March 2027.
Fender lists the guitar at ¥198,000 JPY MSRP. The wider collaboration also includes a strap, pick set, apparel and the existing Dhani Harrison Signature Ukulele, but the Stratocaster is the new instrument in the release.
