Yoshimi is a Linux synthesizer developed from the ZynAddSubFX tradition, with multiple synthesis methods and a performance-oriented workflow. It is useful for layered instruments, pads and detailed timbral programming. It is a maintained fork with its own development direction rather than merely another installer for the same application. Check its current MIDI and audio integration options for the intended Linux setup.
