Charlatan is a virtual-analog synthesizer with a focused architecture for familiar subtractive sounds. It is useful for quickly programming basses, leads and polyphonic parts without navigating a very large instrument. Current and legacy generations differ, so match the download and documentation. The free instrument’s compact design encourages learning the relationship among oscillator balance, filtering and envelope movement.
