Audiveris performs optical music recognition, turning images of printed notation into editable musical data. It is useful for bringing a paper score into a digital notation workflow without entering every note manually. Recognition still needs careful proofreading, especially with difficult scans or complex engraving. A score editor remains useful for correcting and preparing the final performance material.

Proofread the final score and extracted parts before rehearsal or publication. Playback can help find mistakes, but it does not reveal every issue with page turns, spacing or practical instrumental notation.
